Call Me Spike
I recently took Samuel to get a haircut at the place where I go. When he sat in the chair to get it cut, the hair lady asked him how he wanted it cut. To my surprise he said he wanted it short and spikey. We have always kept his hair a little long because Jim and I both like it that way. Evidently he prefers the spikes. He seemed so grown up when he was talking with the hair lady.

Saturday Adventures
Saturday afternoon Jim took the boys over to the park while Stephanie and I went to the BYU Museum of Art. The museum was a lot of fun! There are some really neat exhibits right now. I am planning to take Samuel back to see the work of Walter Wick (the guy who does the "I Spy" books). Amazing!
Jim also went through his massive selection of CDs to see what he was ready to part with.
We had a delicious dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory - yum.
And last, but definitely not least - our interior designer (AKA Stephanie) helped us hang some pictures!
What a fun filled day!

Cascade Springs
Jim took last Friday off of work so that we could go and do something fun with Stephanie. We decided to take a picnic lunch up to Cascade Springs. The weather was beautiful and the company great. It was so fun to walk around on the boardwalk at the springs and take pictures. Samuel of course didn't do too much walking - mostly running. George had a blast as well. It was tricky trying to keep his hat on though.Angelic Stephanie in this picture!
Samuel always has to have a stick in his hand too!

Art Class with Aunt Stephanie
Last week our wonderful friend Stephanie came for a visit. Her visit happened to fall on one of Samuel's Art class days so he thought it would be fun to have her take him to his class. She captured some wonderful pictures (maybe I am biased). The art project for this class was all about textures. They went around to various items and rubbed the surface with a crayon to get a textured looking design.
Here he is working on his project very intently. In the fore front you can see some of his previous clay projects.
The finished product. A masterpiece of hammerhead sharks and other sea creatures!
Thanks Stephanie for sharing the time with Samuel - he loved it!

Bikes and Balloonfest
We have tried to make it a family tradition to ride our bikes to the field just east of the hospital in Provo to watch the hot air balloons lift off. It is part of the Freedom Festival activities that take place for the fourth of July weekend. Today we recruited my brother Lorin (so he could pull the kids in the trailer on the way home because Jim had to stay at work) and his wife Andrea. Samuel always gets so excited to see the balloons. This was George's first year seeing the balloons and although I had to wake them both up at 5:50AM, they were troopers and I think they both enjoyed it.
We were early enough that we were able to go onto the field as the balloons were getting prepped and filled. As beautiful as the balloons are in the air, it is quite a sight to be right next to many HUGE balloons. It was pretty cool. And of course once they launch it is very beautiful to see a blue sky with dots of color floating around.
