Welcoming Baby Jane

May 3, 2011
We headed to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center around 7:30 AM for my scheduled c-section at 9 AM. Although I have had two previous c-sections, I was a little nervous that morning. Jim gave me a wonderful priesthood blessing prior to my delivery which was very helpful in making me feel more calm.

Getting all ready for delivery (not the best pics of me, but I figured I needed to document the event)

Dr. Jacob was my wonderful doctor this time around and he was so great.

Jim all suited up and ready for the delivery

Baby Jane arrived at 10:33 AM (we were a little delayed because we really wanted Dr. Jacob to be the one to do my c-section). She weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces

She was 19 1/2 inches long.

What a beautiful little girl! We couldn't be more thrilled.

She came out with a ton of white blonde hair - just like Grandma Moss envisioned! We are so thrilled that she arrived safely and that all went well.

Her first hair wash

Her blood sugar was low initially so they gave her a bolus feed right away as well as some formula. After the first day of checking and rechecking her blood sugar eventually stabilized and she was just fine. At one point the nurses thought she might need to go to the NICU for closer monitoring and an IV to stabilize the blood sugar, but thankfully she didn't end up needing that.

Here she is just checking out her surroundings

Finally getting to hold her

Easter

April 24, 2011
Both boys have been in need of new Sunday clothes, so we figured this was a great time to get some for them. Suits usually go on sale around Easter, so it was perfect.

Getting a picture together is next to impossible

Our best attempt at a family picture on Easter day

The boys enjoying a little Easter treat (little is an understatement - I think George only ate candy all day)

Pre- Easter Activities

April 23, 2011
Saturday morning was spent at the ward breakfast/Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. It was a bit chilly, but that didn't seem to phase the kids at all.

After the breakfast my good friend Sharlene put on a wonderful, over the top baby shower for me. It was so fun to see so many people and although I don't like to be the center of attention it was still fun.

The boys were excited to see the new stuff for baby Jane.

While I was at the baby shower, Jim and the boys colored eggs

An Early Visit To Labor and Delivery

April 18, 2011
We had a little scare on April 18th. My doctor has been following my blood pressure closely this pregnancy since I had preeclampsia (and hence an early delivery) with George. I have also been monitoring my bp at home. My doc told me if my bp reached a certain number to give him a call. On this particular day it (my bp) was being very weird - so I called. Of course it was after hours but luckily my doc was the one on call. He decided to play it safe and have me come into the hospital and get monitored there. So, we made arrangements for someone to be with the boys and headed over to the hospital. They hooked me up to all sorts of monitors (and the baby as well), took blood work, etc. Once we got there and hooked up my bp was actually fine (which I thought was a little weird - usually I get so nervous at the doctor's or hospital that it goes up even more). My blood work came back fine and everything looked good, so he sent me back home.

Turns out I think my bp monitor is on it's last leg and was giving me incorrect readings. I guess it's time to get a new one : ) I was very relieved though that my little baby was able to stay in my womb and grow more there. I am also so greatful for a good doctor that is very competent and puts my mind at ease.

Poor Jim always freezes in the hospital room while I am quite comfortable. What a trooper.

Fun With Friends

April 16, 2011

We finally had a chance to meet up with our great friends The Christensen's. It has been way too long since we've seen them. The thing that always amazes me is that no matter how long we go without seeing them, the kids (and adults) just pick up as though we saw them yesterday. I love having good friends like that!
