It's a new year and time to get back on track with keeping my family history via our blog. Some events that transpired in January:
On January 1, 2014, I made a goal to not eat any chocolate for one entire year (just to challenge myself to see if I could actually do it). This is me on January 1st after my year of no chocolate ended. I had done some research to find "The BEST" chocolate chip cookie recipe. I tried three or four other recipes before I found this one. It was delicious.
This has been a mild winter, but this is a picture during one of the few snowstorms that we have had. This year Jane has really been able to enjoy playing in the snow.
All three kids loved staying out in the snow and playing on the hill across the street. It is a perfect sledding hill for younger kids.

For Christmas, Samuel received his very own fish aquarium to take care of. He has enjoyed learning about how to care for fish. He has also enjoyed getting new fish and watching them swim around with each other.
Our sweet friend Kate Johnson gave our family this great Christmas gift. It is a count down paper chain with a different scripture on each one. Each Monday we take a link off, read the scripture, and take a picture. It is a countdown to when Grandma and Grandpa Brookes get off their mission. We have had a lot of fun reading the new scripture each week, seeing the chain get smaller, and taking a picture.
Devin Fleischel was baptized on Saturday January 3, 2015. This is the Fleischel family.
An impromptu lunch date with cousins. I had taken Jane and Hazel to the library story time and we saw William, Vivie and Andrea there and decided to go have lunch together. These three sure know how to have a goofy time together.
Samuel earned his Religious Knot award and was awarded it at our January 2015 pack meeting. He has had some great leaders so far in cub scouts and has really enjoyed working towards various awards.
Jane's hair is getting long enough to put in a french braid around her head.
Samuel decided to participate in the school science fair this year. His science fair project was titled Nutrient Rich Water for Peas.
He used four different types of water - Reverse Osmosis filtered water, water from his freshwater fish aquarium, regular tap water, and water from the salt water fish aquarium.
This is Jane right before we left for church in her new dress that Aunt Helen gave her and her hair done all nice and neat.
This is Jane about halfway through sacrament meeting. The face says it all.
In January Samuel had a 6 month follow up with the pediatric cardiologist to check to make sure none of the cells have grown back from the ablation procedure he had completed in July 2014 when he was diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome.
The EKG machine we have become more familiar with in the past 6 months.
